Children's Gathering!

Children's Gathering immediately follows the children’s sermon and is held from September to May.  Our K-5th graders are invited  for singing, sharing, and Bible story telling.  We envision the time together to be an opportunity for our young children to learn the foundational stories of our faith and to explore their own identity as Christ’s disciples through Bible lessons and fellowship. Our Children’s Gathering! will be held the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and (as needed) 5th Sundays of each month.  On the first Sunday of each month children will remain in the sanctuary with their parents for the entire service.

Nursery

When Sunday School is in session, the nursery is staffed for children ages four and under whose parents are in one of our Adult Sunday School classes. Children not yet in school are welcome to play in the nursery during Worship as well. The nursery is staffed by one church employee and one church volunteer each Sunday, year-round. All nursery workers have undergone background checks and have all necessary clearances to work with children.

Children in Worship

Every worshipper of every age should feel welcomed and a part of Worship each Sunday. To that end, we provide children's bulletins in two age ranges (3 to 6 years old and 7 to 12 years old) that correspond with the Children's Sermon that day. The bulletins have puzzles and games to engage the child while reinforcing the biblical story or lesson. In addition, we have Busy Bags available in the lobby to use during Worship. Used bags can be returned to the rack after service.

Children are also welcome to borrow books from our Children's Library to use during the service. Members may check out the books to take home.

Older children also have the opportunity to get directly involved in Worship by serving as an Acolyte. Some children also serve as Ushers along with their families.

Krislund Camp

Each year, we partner with Krislund Camp and Conference Center and Shippensburg Presbyterian Church to offer a day camp. Monday through Thursday, campers attend day camp in Shippensburg. This year's camp will be held at Shippensburg Presbyterian Church on Prince Street.  Children who have finished kindergarten through 8th grade are eligible to attend.

Krislund Camp also offers a variety of different overnight camps throughout the summer for children in grades 2 and up. Middle Spring Presbyterian Church sends volunteers each summer along with the many children who enjoy a week of camping.  You can view the 2021 brochure here.
